YES to global warming

Why this stand ???
Making this stand ... i brought together 4 concepts ...

- global warming (obviously)
- carbon cycle
- mass extinction of dinosaurs
-ice age

GLOBAL WARMING

Firstly, there are already debates on the effects of global warming ... well ... obviously ... most scientist think that global warming has harmful effects ... melting ice sheets from Greenland and Antarctica and raising sea level ... drowning low lying countries.
However, higher temperature also means higher evaporation rate ... meaning more snow fall at Antarctica ... meaning lowering sea level ... or at least balancing the effect of the melting ice.
The effect of global warming will happen mostly in the northern and southern parts of the world(big theory here ... lazy to explain) in 2006 ... there weren't any snowfall in parts of Russia ... this reduction of difference of temperature between the poles and the equator means that there will be less violent storms (global warming scaremongers predicted there will be more violent storms) the difference in temperature, means that global pressure difference would reduce ... which is the main cause of tornadoes and hurriances.

CARBON CYCLE

(prelude - 99.99% of all life forms on earth are carbon-based ... meaning ... we live on carbon ... carbon is our energy ... and basically the building block of life.
Plants use the carbon dioxide from the atmosphere to make food ... to sustain life ... global CO2 level drops ... fortunely... bacterias and decomposer came along with plants to return CO2 to the atmosphere ... but still the original carbon dioxide is reduced ... most of the carbon are stored in the plants and decomposer ... and later still ... animals . Carbon stored as fossil fuel is ... in turn ... energy for us ... a source of power ... similar to what food(which is also carbon-based) does to our body)

Now ... move on to a brand new untouched territory of carbon cycle to explain global warming.
The carbon cycle operates within the atmosphere, living creatures, and fossil fuel.
Carbon in the air used by plants to make food ... in turn ... eaten by animals ... both plants and animal respire to give out carbon dioxide ... and both die ... returning the carbon to the atmosphere due to decomposition ... some fossiled and remain in the ground forever ... as fossil fuel or natural gas ... or juz simply fossil.
This carbon cycle operates on earth ever since the first blue algae sprung out of a lighting storm, and is still operating now. Now ... we have the carbon cycle ... complete with the burning of fossil fuel ... however, long long time ago ... in the realm of dinosaurs ... who was the one to ensure that the carbon is released back into the atmosphere ... the dinosaurs ??? T-rex maybe ???
NO...no one ... the amount of carbon on the surface of earth gets lesser and lesser ... and throughout the age of dinosaurs ... that's plenty of millions of years ... it amounts to a great deal of carbon trapped in earth ... without carbon ... living things can't survive.
Which is why ... by burning fossile fuel ... we are not disturbing the balance the nature ... in fact ... by burning fossil fuel ... we are restoring the balance in nature ... or at least the balance of carbon cycle. We are restoring what the atmosphere should be ... not polluting it.

MASS EXTINCTION

If the carbon cycle theory is true ... why didn't the dinosaurs die long time before the rock from space hit earth to end the age of dinosaurs ???
The continuous wastage of carbon stored as fossil fuel of rocks like diamonds instead of sustaining life should have ended poor carbon-based life forms on earth long time ago.
But ... there are incidents that we deemed as "calamity" which actually restores life on earth ... returning carbon to the surface ... events such as gigantic meteorite hitting earth ... or chain volcanic eruption ... these events release much needed carbon back to the earth .
Of course ... it was most probably the 20km rock that landed near Mexico which ended the age of dinosaur ... but dinosaurs were dying out anyway ... the gigantic rock from outer space was probably the final straw... but ... it released the much needed carbon ... and allowed mammals ... US as the new rulers of earth.

ICE AGE

The cause/s of ice age is often linked with the rise and fall of CO2 levels in the atmosphere ... yet ... no one (as far as i know) links it to the carbon cycle.
The theory is ... with lesser CO2 in the atmosphere ... global temperature drops ... resulting in ice age.
Another newer theory is that, higher CO2 would result in the melting of Greenland's ice sheet ... stopping the warm currents from the equator to the other parts of the world ... thus resulting in ice age ... (remember "The day after tomorrow" it was a real science theory)
However , the continuous removal of carbon and CO2 from our earth's surface shows that the latter theory is unlikely to hold true ... as earth has experienced from tens to thousands of ice ages (depending on which scientist you approach).
How about the carbon release from meteorites and volcanic eruptions ??? One might ask ... the CO2 release from these events might cause the Greenland's ice sheet to melt and cause ice age ... however ... global temperature was reduced during those events even though there was a higher amount of CO2 in the atmosphere ... it is because of the huge amount of dust ... which blocked out sunlight(the recent Pinatubo eruption dropped global temperature) ... thus ... it is unlikely that the artic ice would melt ... furthermore ... there isn't any record of ice age immediately after the extinction of dinosaurs.
All these point that higher CO2 in the atmosphere causes no harm.
In recent human events ... the Black Death ... the Great depression ... were times of low global temperature ... and who can argue that life isn't better after the great revolution ?

EVIDENCE OF DECLINING CO2

Early insects started out not much bigger than modern day insects ... but around the age of dinosaurs ... the insects became bigger ... not human-sized like some movie ... but ... just slightly bigger.
As insects do not have a circulatory system (meaning the heart, blood , veins , etc), they depend on pure diffusion of oxygen from their surface of their body to their inner parts of their body ... to supply oxygen for the cells to respirate. This rate of diffusion depends on the concentration of oxygen in the atmosphere ... meaning the larger the insect can afford to get ... shows that ... there is a higher concentration of oxygen in the atmosphere ... which in turn ... proves that carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and carbon on the surface of earth has been decreasing ever since life sprung of of earth(or at least...since dinosaurs came into the picture).

OUR FURTURE

Yes ... it might be the right thing to do for us to keep burning fossil fuel ... to restore carbon to the surface ... providing life for all.
But ... no doubt ... if this theory holds true ... even us ... humans cannot maintain the carbon cycle to continue going forever ... some fossil fuel are not found ... other's impossible to retrieve ... others are changed into impossible forms to be converted back ... such as diamond.
So ... is the human race and all life forms on earth doomed for sure ???
Yah ... says some ... it is a race of the depletion of carbon VS the explosion of good old sun (which will happen...according to widely accepted theory... around 5.5 billion years from now)

Now ... let's look back at how humans were so successful at dominating earth ... we had fire ... spears ... and the will to conquer other environments (of course there were 1001 other factors ... but these are the important ones which i am going to talk about).
However ... did we understand how fire work? (even today ... many of us view it as the opposite of water)
Did we understand why sharp edges drew blood ?
The answer is ... NO ...
But ... still ... we made use of them ... if our ancient forefathers stopped to think about how combustion happened ... we might still be living in caves.
Point is ... much of science today is focusing on why or how things work ... when we already know that it DOES WORK.
Point is ... get over it and start looking at new problems ... stop thinking about how planes fly (scientist are still figuring that) ... and start thinking at how to get a man on Mars .
The answer on the future of human lies on space ... the will to conquer our enviroment ... the resources are unlimited ( at least ... much much more) out there.
Carbon dioxide are in abundance in Venus ... and Mars is VERY suitable to live in (it just needs an atmosphere).
From our solar system ... we must venture out of our solar system to escape the explosion of the sun.
And when all resources in good old universe is used up ... we go OUT of it ... however impossible it might seem now ... following the theory of the big bang and Einstein's theory about the universe ... there is such a thing as "out" of the universe.

So ... there is still hope for mankind ... unless we stop burning fossil fuel all together .
